Lexi: Child Caught in Lengthy Legal Battle -- March 24, 2016
A custody battle between a Santa Clarita foster family and a biological family over a 6-year-old girl wages on.
The foster parents, Summer and Rusty Page, raised the foster child known as “Lexi” since she was 2 years old. Lexi was supposed to be relocated Sunday morning to family members in Utah by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. The move was rescheduled to Monday after supporters rallied to “Keep Lexi Home” near the Page residence on Ron Ridge Drive in Saugus.
Chiquita Landfill Maxes Out; County Issues Waiver -- Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016
The county planning director has issued a waiver allowing the Chiquita Canyon Landfill to continue accepting trash beyond its approved capacity while the landfill’s expansion plan works its way through the approval process, an official confirmed Thursday.
Under its 1997 conditions of approval, the county required the landfill in Val Verde to close once it hits 23 million tons or on Nov. 29, 2019 – whichever is earlier.
CalArts Student Files Title IX Complaint For Handling Of Sexual Assault Report
CalArts students held a campus-wide protest Thursday, walking out of classes over claims the Valencia arts college mishandled a sexual assault report, prompting a Title IX complaint, officials said.
An undergraduate student reported a sexual assault to the college back in July, more than five months after the assault had happened, according to an Al Jazeera article.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Deputy Dan Dantice and his fellow team members, Deputy Betsy Shackelford and city of Santa Clarita Interim Community Preservation Officer, Justin Hillemann, walk up to two homeless people sleeping under a bridge.
“You been talking to the outreach people, did you see if they can help,” Dantice asks of the couple.
